Project Manager Education

Managing all administrative aspects of a Federal contract, including project planning, staffing, budgeting, and communications. Serve as the daily primary interface with project leadership and teams, subcontractor, and consultants. Support planning and coordination of contract requirements, and ensuring deliverables are met within the prescribed time frame and funding parameters.

Location: Washington DC

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage day-to-day operations
  • Supervise and provide management support for all project teams
  • Collaborate with project team leads to help manage objectives, contribute information for action plans, support implementation, ensure quality, customer-service standards, problem resolution, audits, analyze trends, and support continuous improvements
  • Responsible for regular and proactive client, team, and stakeholder communications and relationship management
  • Manage budgeting and planning of project activities, time frames, staffing, and resources.
  • Support contract and team financial management (e.g., budget preparations, schedule expenditures, monitor forecasts, analyze variances, initiate corrective actions)
  • Oversee financial objectives including budgeting, forecasting, invoicing and travel, reporting and reconciling
  • Set and monitor procedures
  • Identify and recommend approaches to improve quality, cost, and process inefficiencies for accomplishing project efforts and managing resources
  • Ensure project activities comply with Federal government regulations, policies, and ethics

Skills and Abilities:

  • Aptitude and experience managing Federal projects required (i.e., Project Administration/Management, Planning, Developing and Tracking Budgets, Travel, Supervision, Staffing, Performance and Process Improvement, Coaching)
  • Experience managing a diverse program/project team
  • Effective communication skills across multiple teams
  • Ability to summarize and convey information to a variety of audiences
  • Proven ability to form positive and effective relationships for results
  • Excellent analytical skills and high quality written work including attention to detail, grasp of large conceptual frameworks
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills
  • Change management and consensus building skills, with the ability to inspire a team to action, is a plus
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, SharePoint and database management

Education and experience:

  • Master’s degree and at least two years of management experience in Education related programs; or Bachelor’s degree with five years related experience
  • Previous work in American Indian/Alaska Native communities highly desired
